What is a Universal Account Number (UAN)?

  • Easily transfer or withdraw PF

To get started, you need to register and activate your UAN on the official EPFO Unified Member Portal.

How to Log in to the UAN Portal

Logging into the UAN Member Portal is easy. Just follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official EPFO website: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in
  2. Click on “Our Services” on the homepage.
  3. Select “For Employees”.
  4. Click “Member Passbook”.
  5. Enter your UAN and password to log in.

Once logged in, you can view your UAN Card, profile, and service records.

How to Activate Your UAN

Before you can access the portal, you’ll need to activate your UAN. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the UAN Portal.
  2. Under Important Links, click on “Activate UAN”.
  3. Enter your details (UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, etc.) and click “Get Authorization PIN”.
  4. You’ll receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  5. Enter the OTP to activate your UAN. A temporary password will be sent to your phone.
  6. Log in using the password and change it for security.

Congratulations — your UAN is now active!

How to Check UAN Status

If you’re unsure about the status of your UAN, you can check it online in just a few steps:

  • Log in to the EPFO Member Portal.
  • Click on “Our Services” → “For Employees”.
  • Choose “UAN Online Service (OCS/OTCP)”.
  • Click on “Know Your UAN Status”.
  • Fill in your Member ID, PF number, PAN, Aadhaar, date of birth, and mobile number.
  • Click “Get Authorization PIN”.
  • Enter the OTP received and click “Validate OTP and Get UAN”.

Your UAN details will be sent to your mobile. Passbook Online

The EPF passbook gives you a detailed view of your contributions and balance. To access it:

  • Go to the EPFO Member Portal and log in.
  • Click on “Our Services” → “For Employees”.
  • Select “Member Passbook”.

Note: You must be registered on the portal for at least 6 hours to view your passbook. The feature is not available for members of exempted or inoperative establishments.

Registering for an e-Passbook

To download or view your e-passbook:

  • Ensure your UAN is activated.
  • Wait for 3 working days after activation.
  • Visit the portal and click “Download e-Passbook”.
  • Log in with your UAN and password to access your records.

Checking Your EPF Balance

You can also check your EPF balance online:

  1. Log in to the UAN Member Portal.
  2. Click on “Our Services” → “For Employees”.
  3. Select “Member Passbook”.
  4. Enter your login credentials and Captcha.

Your balance and transaction details will appear on the screen.

Forgot UAN Portal Password? Here’s How to Reset It

If you’ve forgotten your password, here’s how you can reset it:

  1. Go to the login page and click on “Forgot Password”.
  2. Enter your UAN and Captcha code.
  3. You’ll receive an OTP on your registered mobile.
  4. Enter the OTP and click “Submit”.
  5. Set a new password and log in again.

Online EPF Services Available on the UAN Portal

The EPFO portal offers various online services that save time and paperwork.

1. PF Withdrawal (Claims)

You can apply for full or partial withdrawal using the Composite Claim Form:

  • Form 31: Partial withdrawal
  • Form 19: Final settlement
  • Form 10C: Pension withdrawal

Important: Aadhaar must be linked with your UAN to use this service.

2. Transfer of PF Funds

Switching jobs? You can transfer your PF to your new employer’s account easily.

Ensure the following before initiating a transfer:

  • KYC details (Aadhaar, PAN, bank info) are updated.
  • Bank account is linked and verified in the UAN profile.
  • Only one transfer request is allowed for a previous account.

3. Track Claim Status

Want to know the progress of your withdrawal or transfer request?

  • Go to the UAN Portal.
  • Click on “Track Claim Status”.
  • No need to enter your acknowledgment number or PF number.

Just log in and check it in real-time.
